The Seasonal Influences of Door County Artist Ginnie Cappaert

After 25 years painting in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, artist Ginnie Cappaert decided to move south…to Wisconsin.

She opened her Egg Harbor gallery, Cappaert Contemporary Art, in the former Dovetail shop last year. In the bright spaces of the cozy studio overlooking the bay from atop the Niagara Escarpment, she finds inspiration in the changing seasons.

“An abstract landscape painter, those quiet moments practicing yoga, hiking the peninsula’s trails, and biking its rolling country roads are as necessary to Cappaert as the tools she uses to achieve her work,” wrote Alyssa Skiba in the summer edition of Door County Living magazine (read the article here>>).

In this video, the first of our shows profiling the artists and galleries of the peninsula, produced in partnership with Door County Living, Cappaert takes us through the process of her abstract landscape works, where she finds inspiration, and touches on just how an artists gets their work done every day.
